Cracking
isolated

30cm of new low density snow above 8500'. New snow is bonding poorly to old interfaces, especially on southerly aspects. Observed 5' cracking on the old crust interface. Hit a steep test slope on an E aspect that produced a clean fracture surprisingly considering the low density characteristics. More loading or increased wind could certainly result in a lot of storm or wind slabs issues with the new/old interface. This will depend on how long the last night's snow has to bond before more loading. Time will tell. Calm winds all day, and did not see any wind slab development even at 10,000'. Cloudy skies all day but warm temperatures with radiation from thin cloud cover. Biggest concerns will be storm/wind slabs with continued snowfall above the variety of new/old interfaces. Test the reactivity of this interface while moving across different aspects.

Snowpack

Poor new/old interface. Dug on a wind loaded slope to check for any old wind slabs above potential persistent layers. Nothing too concerning as far as structure or any propagation in this location. 

9900' E aspect HS: 335cm ECTN down 35cm on hardness change (graupel/preserved stellars).
