Quick report
Took advantage of the slightly warmer temps and calm winds to get some turns in the backcountry off the Lakeview Triple. The day started with overcast skies, good visibility, and light winds out of the N/NE. There was a ~2cm soft, breakable, wind packed crust along the ridge line but it didn't inhibit travel or skiing. We were curious about the new(ish) snow and old snow interface so we dug a hasty pit on a N/NW aspect at 6100 ft. At this particular location there was ~150 cm of snow and our test pit was approx. 80 cm deep. Compression test and Extended Column both failed roughly 50 cm down on the same layer, but were very stubborn and irregular (CTH and ECTN26). In general the snowpack seemed like it might be slowly healing, but there is still some uncertainty so we kept a large margin of safety and found good skiing on some low angle terrain as the skies cleared.
