Quick report

Cracking
widespread

Widespread cracking and propagation limited our exposure today. We stuck to mellow slopes away from wind loading. Even so, every turn saw some cracking. Wind and snow load increased throughout the day. Storm slabs slid and cracked readily on the facets and buried surface hoar.

Elevation

Easily triggered D1 storm slab avalanches on 35-40 degree north-facing slopes in the 6500ft elevation from ski cuts. Slabs were soft and probably not enough to bury someone, but propagated far and readily.
