Quick report
Started in the rain, ended in the rain. The new (or future) normal? Skied primarily W facing aspects above Upper Whitefish Lake. Traveled between 4400' and 7200'. Snow was real firm (supportable crust) on much of our ascent in the morning; it transitioned to soft snow around 6200'. Skiing was surprisingly fun (or at least "not terrible") and surfy for the upper thousand feet - worthy of a couple of laps. Winds did gust strongly on and off while we were up there, but nowhere near what we anticipated, being so directly windward. Picked up about 3" down low throughout the day, and maybe 4" up high. Last 500 feet was... mank. Challenging. Snow transitioned to rain shortly after Upper WF Lake on our way out. Was still drizzling at the TH when we pulled out at 5:30 pm. Worth it. This time :)
