Small weak layer sitting around 40cm deep. Larger weak layer, crust, and then fresh surface hoar on the surface that could lead to future instability.

Snowpack
Significant surface hoar on all aspects. Large crystals, up to a couple cm deep. Breakable crust underneath that with a soft layer underneath. Dug a pit at 6400' on a south facing low angle face. Snow depth was approximately 105cm with bushes in the bottom so I wasn't able to perform a full ECT but I tried to do some tests. Soft layer under the crust (around 5cm depth) was 4-finger hard. Another layer at around 40cm could be easily penetrated with a single gloved finger. On a not-full-size ECT, the top crust failed on tap 1 at 5cm depth and did not propagate (ECTN 5). Collapse was 2-3cm. On tap 13, the 40cm deep layer collapsed and propagated (ECTP 13). Collapse was small (maybe <1cm) but clearly noticeable.
