Quick report
We toured up from the dunderberg meadows road and skied some laps in the shallow gully above the tarn that feeds Dunderberg Creek. The snowpack depth was around 50 cm, probing found 40-70cm between 10k' and 11500'. A hand pit around 10400' had 60cm of snow. I did not find any signs of instability, no shooting cracks and no collapsing. I kicked switchbacks and no cracks extended further than directly below my skis. Ground - 30cm - Chunky crystals frozen together 35cm - icy crust 35cm - 50cm - 1F consolidated snow 50 - ~57cm - 4F/F soft unconsolidated snow 60cm - Variable wind crust Surface conditions were variable, primarily scattered wind crust, though I did find some powder in sheltered areas, and some nice chalk snow. Coverage was actually decent, I only hit one rock. Lower sheltered areas had a faceted surface. Winds were out of the N/NE and were stripping snow off the ridgelines. Dunderberg had a nice snow banner from the summit most of the day, but I couldn't see if it was loading on the south aspects or just blowing the snow away.
