Ski toured around the june backcountry. Winds were increasing throughout the day, primarily coming from the north and north east Moderate at mid-slope, blustery at ridge top. This kept temperatures cool. The hour glass drainage was largely wind affected with upslope winds. We noticed areas of wind scouring combined with areas of wind deposits. Deposited zones varied greatly in thickness and wind slabs were present on leeward side of ridges. We did not experience any cracking or collapsing while skinning on these surfaces. Some northern chutes were wind stripped on the upper flanks. Others held good snow. Wind affect varied greatly from drainage to drainage. Soft snow was found mid slope and in sheltered areas, still very sharky. Lots of hidden rocks.
