Quick report
Wind F-ed snow on SW, NE, N, and W aspects, including in treed areas that seemed as if they should be protected. Snow remained on trees but somehow not on the ground. In some places the surface snow was knife hard wind board. We did find some good turns in some tight trees and noted that anywhere it opened up, even briefly, was hammered by the wind. Where the snow was good, it was deep. Despite visual cues of the wind’s effects (scouring, cornices, debris everywhere, sastrugi), we saw little to no cracking, heard no whoomphs, and saw no recent avalanches.
