These were favorable pit results. The question I have is how much slab is adequate to feel confident about bridging the weak layers?
Snowpack
Tour up the Wimpys track revealed a variable depth snowpack ranging from 80 cm at the fault to 200 at 9600' related to wind load and stripping as is typical of that windy zone. We dug two pits along the uptrack. 1) 8010 feet, SE, 33* slope. ECT25 and 33 and PST 115/120 end down 65 on 1/4 interface. 2)9060 feet, ESE, 29* slope. ECT and CT unreactive due to weak layers too deep for tests. PST 120/140 end down 100cm on 1/4 interface. The slab above the weak layer was 25 cm of F, 25 of 4F and 50 of pencil. Facets at both locations near the ground were starting to round. The December crust below the 1/4 interface as up to 5 cm thick and knife hardness.
