Isolated Whumpfs and ECTP18 failing on facets buried Jan 6, which sit above a MF crust. Others have noted instability in the facets between the two crusts, perhaps more of a problem at higher elevations. Noticed small wet loose avalanches on the drive to the trailhead on steep, N aspects.

Damp storm Jan 16 deposited a few inches of heavy, wet snow on top of large storm cycle from Jan 6 to 13th. Warming event today going into next week may tickle the weak layers if meltwater gets down to them.

Snowpack

Damp storm snow sits on top of consolidated slab from early January (roughly 6-13) storm cycle, 4F to 1F hard depending on where you dig. The slab sits on top of significant 1-2mm facets buried Jan 6, which formed on top of a MF crust from late December warm spell. Below the crust are more facets, another crust from December 6 rain/wintry mix event (I think...), followed by rounding facets to the ground. Due to significant sagebrush in my pit location, it was difficult to fully parse the base level facets.
