Quick report
Went up to clear the board at the Surprise weather station. 26 inches of snow, 3.9 inches SWE - board was last cleared 3/1.
Exposed areas at low and middle elevations were showing wind affect and drifting. Wind slabs were soft with no cracking but a good amount of snow is being moved. This will be something to keep in mind as slabs become buried with the incoming snow in the next 24 hours. If the forecast pans out, we could get up to an inch of SWE by tomorrow (Wednesday) morning. This is a significant load being added to the snowpack in about 12 hours. Expect the avalanche hazard to rise as the snowpack adjusts. Watch for pillows, stiff drifts, and cracking in wind-affected snow if you go out tomorrow.

Moderate south winds coming up the valley, strongest at low and mid elevations. Only light wind at upper elevations (above 8500 feet). Temps remained cold. S-1 to S2 throughout the day with graupel.
