The HS in the Ullr meadow at the base of the Maverick NE Ridge is 46cm's. We dug on a NE aspect at 7215' on a 10 degree slope. The pit showed very obvious layers consistent with our season snowpack history, you can see this easily in the attached photo. From BT parking lot all the way to this pit location there was the presence of widespread surface hoar ranging from 4mm to 10mm in size. I was expecting to find propagation in this shallow pit but our test results gave us an ECTN12 down 17cm's just below the melt freeze crust on 1.5mm Facets. Though we did not get any propagation in this particular pit the recipe was there, and only 10 minutes later about 100meters from our pit location is where we experienced the 2 whomps. The low angle Surface Hoar skied very well ;) This was an AIARE level 1 course. Near the end of our tour, our class regrouped on a very low angle East facing slope at 7200 feet. The slope was approximately a 10 degree slope, and we experienced 2 separate whomps in this location.
