Glory - Coal Creek

Windy and cold up on Glory today. A classic dust on crust situation. Anywhere from a trace to two inches of new snow had accumulated by 1pm. Overall, there was not enough new snow to create any real avalanche problems in this part of the world. Strong westerly winds lasting from 4am - noon had formed small drifts in leeward terrain. However, these drifts were too small to pose much of a threat to people. Given the windy conditions observed on Glory, it is easy to imagine that larger wind slabs may exist in areas favored by last night’s snowfall (Targhee and the northern half of GTNP).  Temperatures in the single digits and low teens have resulted in a solid refrozen surface on most aspects.  A stronger pulse of moisture is expected this evening and could change conditions by tomorrow morning.
