Quick report
Based upon a cheap thermometer- temperatures at Jackson Lake were below freezing for most of the night on May 11th - morning of the 12th. Temperatures at 8,000 feet at 5:30 am on the 12th were well above freezing (37 degrees) and other than a very thin crust- snow pack did not seem to have frozen overnight above 7,500 feet. We turned around at around 8,000 feet at 5:45 am and didn't make observations above that point.
Avalanche
Numerous wet slides on new/old snow interface from storm last week. Most of the skillet slid - based upon observation from afar, crown was at ~12,000 feet, and debris down to 7,500 feet. It looks like it slid sometime on May 11th. Several other avalanches were observed via sight/sound in the area around 11:30 am - noon on May 12.
