Sardine Can Wall

Today we limited travels to below and near treeline terrain. We found pockets of fresh, unconsolidated snow over both supportable and breakable crusts. Where the snow was deep enough (thank you mild wind transport BTL ) we found enjoyable turns. 

With clear skies, we were able to get substantial visual observations of localized terrain, and terrain in the alpine. We observed various slopes that appeared wind loaded, and many that appeared wind scoured. Some slopes had distinct textures due to wind affect that were visible from a great distance away. We could see flagging on the high peaks, and we experienced the bitter North wind, as well as blowing snow from NNW aspects. 

Cracking was observed in below treeline terrain and near treeline terrain surface snow as a result of wind affect. Where we traveled, the cracking was no more than 2 inches deep. We felt collapsing whilst traveling on breakable crust below treeline terrain.
