Quick report

Aspect
West
Red Flags
Poor Snowpack Structure
Elevation
3200 m

explored E/NE side of bald and reids, found 90-140 cm of snow depending on aspect and protection.

Snow is very supportable on top 1/2 of pack, sitting on a very wet and faceted lower 1/2 of pack.

No failure w ETC and held together as one block when broken off with shovel.

Noted weakest facets at ground level, but also high water content.

We need a few cold nights before I would gain trust on anything steep.

Instability Comment

though ECT did not fail, bottom 1/2 of snowpack held wet facets, needing a deep freeze to make me trust it. Heavy water content to the ground below a stout top slab

will be a problem with sun and as temps rise again
