Yay first genueine obs of the year! We went up into the Northern Bridgers and found ~5 inches of new snow from yesterday, along with a significant amount that has held on since last weekend's storm. On the skin in we encountered high winds (45-55 mph?) and a heavy amount of wind loading and transport. As the wind continued to increase and we entered steeper terrain, some shallow wind slabs and shooting cracks were encountered (~6-7 inches deep with shooting cracks extending up to 200 cm from our skis). Not enough activity to really be concerned about it, but avalanches mean that winter is here!
