Quick report
We headed east today to take in the storm and look at conditions in the Skyland area.
•Storm totals were 20-35 cm of dry, cohesion less snow.
•We were expecting more wind; the most wind affected snow we ran across was the snowmobile trail/road to Challenge cabin. For the most part things stayed light, dry and didn't slab up at all.
•We conducted several snow pits on East and NE aspects( roughly 6200' and 7100'). No buried surface hoar was located. We did have a result of ECTP28 (x2) down 85 on a small layer of rounding facets. This was at the Jan 2 crust, although at 7,100' the crust was only a few mm thick.
•Travel was arduous, but well worth the investment.
