Quick report
Our main objective today was an efficient pre-season snowmobile safety training, so snowpack observations were limited. Precipitation began around midday and visibility was generally poor. The mid-elevation snowpack is starting to build, but plenty of exposed vegetation and shallowly buried obstacles remain. Start zones and tracks at these elevations are still very brushy and discontinuous.

Light snow began around midday. Intensity increased to S-1 by the time we exited the field around 15:00. Winds were generally light with moderate gusts at Red Meadow Lake.
Snowpack
Minimal observations were made today.
HS - 65 cm at 5500' at Red Meadow Lake.
30-35 cm of soft and dry surface snow from the past week's storms, resting on a 5-10 cm brittle crust, on top of another 20 cm of hard refrozen base down to the ground.
