I’ve been out with clients at Bacon Rind the past couple days. On both days we experienced collapsing of the snowpack near the ridge line, in areas with previous wind loading. Off the ridge we noticed no signs of instability, though the snowpack structure remains generally weak. It only took a couple steps off the well established skin track to get these whumpfs, a great reminder to keep a heads up a search for instability. Large Surface Hoar persisted in open areas for the last few days, something to watch for with the incoming snow. We had several whumphs and collapses when breaking trail through previously wind loaded areas near the ridgeline. We didn’t observe any avalanches in nearby terrain, or notice any CCW outside of where wind had built a thicker slab.

Winds increased throughout the day as the small system moved in, but not enough to move snow. No new snow when we left at 1430.
Snowpack
Widespread NSF layer below the most recent storm snow everywhere we skied. The overlying slab is variable with respect to depth, hardness, and crust presence. SH formation (8mm +) in most clearings.
