Quick Observation

Snow conditions were incredibly varied, from hard baked crust on high alpine ridges to wind transported fresh snow in the valleys. A difficult non supportive crust overlaid 10 cm of wind transported snow in many areas below alpine ridges. The good news is that most of the large cornices on the east and south aspects have released and there is a tremendous amount of snow throughout the Southeast Hills with more forecast for tonight. While we lost the sun near noon, even in its short duration it had a powerful effect on conditions, eating away at that crust. Spring skiing has started.
