Quick Observation

Made an attempt on field. Dug apit at tree line 2000m 35 degree nw aspect 115cm depth. 5cm fresh snow 15cm soft slab overlying a 15cm lower density slab, bottem pack comprised of weak facets over lying two dif crust with slight depth hoar formation near the ground, result on first slab at 3 taps and result 35cm down at 5 tap. Stayed away fron the alpine bench skied the path directly below the face, nice skiing for first 350m then turned into a alder filled bush( hainous) should have skied down the way we came up! Great snow stormy day light winds snowed around 1cm during the day parking lot started at -7 once above switch backs was -10. By mid afternoon was -5 in the alpine. Over all great day out fantastuc snow for what we did ride.
