Quick Observation

Beautiful weather at Pedley Pass where we found around 80-150 cm of snow on the ground which was heavily faceted. We saw evidence of large slab avalanches from during the hot spell in the alpine but nothing recent. In our pit the surface hoar from January was down 25 cm and a thick layer of facets down 40. Neither propagated in an extended column test because the snow above it was so faceted but we'd be very cautious anywhere that there is a stiffer slab over top. We had good riding in sheltered spots, but watch out for snow sharks! (rocks)
