Quick Observation
Broke trail from the parking lot to the summit of Warspite Ridge. WAY more new snow than we expected, easily 20cm fresh dry powder on a supportive crust, with some areas having 30cm. Trailbreaking was some effort but easy enough thanks to the supportive base. Put in a good track up to the Warspite Cirque then up towards the ridge. Went up a steep West-facing slope of Warspite Ridge which worked quite well. The new snow was some and uncohesive apart from some small isolated areas of wind effected snow which were starting to slab up. With the strong winds I wouldn't be surprised to see some more serious wind slab in the next few days. We saw tons of wind transport happening. Skied up to the ridge then had a short 5min bootpack/scramble on rock to the top of the ridge. Great views, sunny day, awesome objective! The ski down was excellent with low density powder atop the supportive crust. Didn't feel bottomless thanks to that crust but it was the best snow in 4-5 weeks!!
