Surface hoar in Kootenay

The Jan 24 surface hoar layer has become a significant avalanche problem in Kootenay as the slab over the weak layer has developed. Cracks are now easily propagating, avalanches to size 2 have been triggered this week, and avalanches have been observed in dense forest. And now a storm will add to this. Heads up; although the weak layer is one month old, the problem is coming to life now.
