We had the weather and snow conditions we wanted for a scrappier trip to an unknown zone, but got turned around by a large tree across the road at about 50.32984 -126.71846, preventing us from reaching not one, not two, but three of our destination options in the Bonanza range today.
We settled for an approach of Fools Peak from the same side, which worked out ok but no sleds beyond the road with current coverage at 900m. Traveled to only 1000 m.
A breakable crust had formed in more direct solar terrain but softened up reasonably with daytime warming. Very skiable by island standards.
In the shade, there's still 40 cm of dry snow on the most recent crust! That's 40 reasons to get your butt out there! ;)
