Skied two days in the McKirdy hut area, mostly exploring access routes and terrain in the north bowl of Carson Peak. Unfortunately visibility didn't cooperate to do much in the alpine. Of note were massive cornices all along the ridge of Carson Peak.
Snowpack at the hut (1950m) was 220cm. On Saturday we woke up to 10cm of fresh snow, and still overcast and snowing hard. -5C overnight, warming to 0C in the afternoon. Snow became heavy on all aspects, despite overcast and foggy conditions all day. Sunday stayed overcast with periods of cloud/fog moving through; 3C in the afternoon. Loose wet slides became much more active on solar aspects. Monday morning started at -3C and overcast, and we skied breakable crust changing to heavy wet snow on the exit. 14C in the valley at 1pm.
