From a ridge 1.5 km away across a deep valley, observed a person setting a new up track in the upper part of a gully on a SE facing slope. The lower half of the gully had been skied a couple of days before. The person triggered a slab formed in a cross loaded pillow in the gully’s accumulation zone just above his last switchback. The person may have been carried down for a portion of the path through sparse trees. The slab debris did not appear to cause a step down to lower layers in the gully. The debris stalled on shallower angle covering the upper section of the slope that had been skied a couple days before. Tracks observed in the snow suggest that the person walked down the gully below the debris, got onto his ski bike, and rode it down about 10 km back to his truck.
