Quick Observation

Sled access mellow skiing at the approach to the Big Y. Visibility was limited in alpine, so we stayed at lower elevations near treeline. It was fairly sheltered here and riding quality better than expected. As the storm came in with south winds Saturday the new snow buried a surface hoar layer. Quick compression test on 20 degree N aspect at 1150 m with HS 130 gives easy results down 15cm with softer snow sitting on a windslab and moderate down 40cm on a crust facet layer.
