Avalanche Information

While skiing Storm Mountain Firebreak we witnessed an avalanche validating our decision to steer clear of the alpine. The day had off and on snow accompanied with high winds. We can only assume the avalanche was a result of the conditions with possible rapid loading over the few hours we were out there. As others have mentioned in previous reports the avalanche started in the alpine on a wind loaded slope and cascaded down the cliff to a lower slope where it triggered this snow pack to avalanche as well. The start crown could be between 20-100 cm though it was hard to measure from our distance. The second slope below had a crown of 20-50 cm.
