As a stability test, ski cut the top of a medium size NW facing chute about half way down the pitch. The main slope above was ~35deg and the chute around ~42deg. Triggered a good sized D1 which ran about 400 ft to the lower angle slope below and was 100 feet wide. In the start zone it fracture out a clean classic V... with a crown height varying between 1 and 2 feet tall. The slide entrained all the storm slab for the first 100 feet until the angle eased back to ~30deg, and the mostly ran on top of the storm slab. Debris field was only 1-2 feet deep and still unconsolidated.
