While traveling on N-NW aspects between 6,600-7,000 feet, our party experienced several collapses both locally and across wider terrain features. The most concerning also coincided with shooting cracks above us and across the slope, approximately 100 feet. The snowpack structure in these areas was composed of 25cm F HST overlying 10cm 1F-P windslab (presumably the old surface from the later half of January). The apparent weak layer was ~10 cm of 1-2 mm facets under the wind slab, likely the mid-December facets. The collapsing and shooting cracks strongly correlated to this structure, mainly the presence of the underlying wind slab, which was not noted in the rest of our travels on similar aspects today.
