Quick report
As I toured up towards the top of Tamarack peak, I stopped in a protected area at 9700 feet. It was very windy above, but this area was protected from the wind and was also shaded. On a mellow slope, east northeast facing, I dug a hasty pit. On the ground, there’s 20-25 cm of crumbly snow. It was still fairly wet. Then there was a 6-8 cm thick crust with some firm snow right above it before transitioning to four-finger hardness. At 55 cm, there was a very thin crust in what appears to be new storm snow. Total snow depth was 95cm.
