Quick report
We toured Elephants Hump, generally on cold aspects, and found both near surface facets and surface hoar on the surface of wind sheltered slopes, with a supporatble crust down 4-6". Although there was a light NE breeze we didn't see any current wind transport, and above treeline terrain had previously been quite wind scoured, leaving little snow available for additional transport. We dug snow profiles in several locations to look at facet/crust combos. The facets were notably weaker on colder slopes, even with very subtle aspect/steepness changes between locations. Warmer slopes had stronger crusts and less developed facets.
