Quick report

The surface snow on shaded aspects was generally weak and concerning given new snow in the forecast. I found a discontinuous surface hoar layer in several places, buried close to the surface. There was also a subtle double crust layer with adjacent facets, and inches of graupel.  New snow was also falling as graupel. Even though not much new had fallen, with strong winds it was already beginning to fill old tracks.
