A few observations from guiding the last few days in the Rocher Deboule, Hudson Bay, and Hazleton Ranges - no new avalanche activity noted. Fridays W winds created some thin windslabs on lee aspects, but very easy to recognize, avoid or manage. Protected N and E alpine and treeline areas ski well. These protected areas are loose faceted powder. Open areas have variable prev wind affect, and suncrust on solar aspects. Average treeline snowpack depths of 200-250cm probed. Many alpine areas are shallow and heavily scoured from the winds of february. Our main concern was for isolated windslabs, and overhead cornice exposure. Temps today reached 2c at lunch at 1300m, but overall stayed cooler than forecast at treeline and alpine. Overcast sky kept things cooler w a light SW wind.
