Quick report

March 16 was very windy but today was calm and the sunshine was very intense, At dawn snow was hard and icy from 3000-8250' but by late afternoon climbers were sinking in 4-6" above 7500' and 8-12' below 7500 feet to the tree line. This afternoon, skiers were traversing steep snow-loaded slopes from the tree line to summit but no avalanche activity was seen other than the cornice collapses around 5,000' and roller balls on steep SW aspects up to 7200'.

Avalanche

The cornice collapses reported by a skier on March 16 continued, but all of the collapses that I observed were between 4500 and 5200'. No signs of instability were seen above this altitude including on East, West, and South aspect slopes that baked in the sun all day today.
