Traveled from Cornucopia trailhead to Clear Creek cabin via Miles Mountain/Table Top. Significant new snow above 5600’. North of Clear Creek Cabin you could get off sled and sink roughly 2 - 3 feet in soft snow. Witnessed wind slabs near ridge lines and above tree line in large exposed areas. Large cornice development yet to release. STAY BACK! Witnessed a fresh natural avalanche on a NE aspect, 7300’ on a 30 degree slope. Crown was about 60 yards across and about 2’ deep. Ran about 100 yards into trees. Suspect storm slab - did not appear to be a wind slab. Observation caused our group to rethink terrain choice and travel route. Extremely good coverage and snow on low angle terrain above 5600’. Be careful when considering riding above tree line on slopes approaching 30 degrees. If you are reading this - heed the warnings while these storm cycles move through!
Avalanche
Witnessed what appeared to be a storm slab avalanche - mid slope at approximately 7300’ on a NE aspect approximately 30 degree slope. Appeared to be about a 2’ crown - video included.
