Quick report
We skied in and around the sandbox area between 0800 and 1230. During our tour, sky cover shifted between overcast and obscured with snow falling intermittently at a rate of s-1. On a north facing slope, we observed failures in hand sheers on a hardness inversion in the new snow. These 6" slabs varied in hardness and did not manifest in cracking or collapsing at any point. On South Snowfields proper, the snow surface was firm, consistent windboard.
Avalanche
We observed an avalanche (HS-N-D3-R3.5) this morning in the GOS south snowfields, which likely ran during peak loading over the past 24 hours. We also observed debris and crowns on several other E and SE-facing slopes, though none as significant as this one. Crown was roughly 6' in the middle, and debris ran nearly to the flats. Poor trees
