Quick report
Winds kept temperatures relatively cool throughout the day. Snow that has seen the sun held a range of breakable crust thicknesses, while supportable melt-freeze surfaces remained firm all day. Areas that produced roller balls during last week’s warm period did not reheat.
Sheltered north-facing terrain preserved soft surface facets, generally 6–10 cm deep. Older tracks on these colder north aspects had refrozen, creating challenging riding conditions, likely due to the warm, cloudy weather earlier in the week. In contrast, untracked terrain on these aspects still offered good-quality snow for riding.
Moderate winds persisted throughout the day, transporting snow primarily from east and northeast fetches. These winds actively eroded cornices, and snow was suspended, dispersed and deposited. There were some pockets on anorthwest and west facing slope that seemed to be catching some of this wind transported snow. No active blowing snow was observed on Silver Peak, but Ebbett’s Peak, nearby ridgelines and some peaks furhter south experienced consistent blowing snow for most of the day

Clear skies, moderate winds on the ridges and light winds felt in midslope terrain. We recorded temperatures and wind chill with an average temperature around 28, Wind chill on the ridges was in the teens.
