Quick report

We saw a few signs of instability (stuff and small wind slab releases) in the high peaks wind loaded road cuts. Up high in the trees there was about 12” of new snow. We dug a pit (150cm’s) on a north facing aspect at 7900’ which resulted in a (ECTX) or no results. We did get propagation at (shovel shear) on the new/old snow interface at about 40cm’s (15inches) below the surface. We then got another separation at 27” below the surface. There was a melt/freeze crust at 33” below the surface with “no” separation via shovel shear. Shovel also broke a the bottom (150cm’s) on what appeared to be a very small layer of facets. On the ride n and out we did notice several roller balls in the lower elevations on south aspects. See pics below. We approached all slopes <30 degress with caution. Weather was mostly clear with light winds out of the west.
