Mostly clear skies to start the day. Increasing mid and high level clouds built in the afternoon, particularly from Galena Summit and south.

We observed numerous avalanches since (2/16), they appeared to come in two batches: 1.) Widespread D1-2 loose and slab avalanches the night of the 16th and early on the 17th. 2.) Multiple larger, wider slab avalanches during or shortly after precipitation ended on the 18th. Most avalanches were on NW-N-NE-E facing slopes near the tops of ridges in wind affected terrain. Notably, some large slabs occured on SE and S. One of these could feasibly have released as warm sun consolidated the slab on the SE face of McDonald yesterday (not confirmed).
