Ascended up next to Nason Creek up through Valhalla trees. Thin breakable crust on top of loose unconsolidated snow, no signs of instability. Began a traverse across SW face of Lictenberg, bailed out halfway across to ridge due to an increasingly unpleasant hard wind crust. Some very loose wind transported snow in concavities and on the western lee side of prominent terrain, otherwise crust was scoured clean of any fresh snow. Returned to just above Lake Valhalla for descent lap, snow started as soft but heavy powder, became much heavier near the creek valley.
