Overall found enjoyable ski conditions. Snow depth varied as a result of wind transport with som areas holding 6” of snow over a saturated crust while others held 24” of snow. Winds were strong and snow was continuous through out the day, letting up slightly in the mid afternoon. Our party did not find the same snow instabilities in lower elevations and sheltered terrain.
Avalanche
Observed natural, human triggered, and remote triggered avalanches on all aspects. Most avalanches seemed to run on a storm interface between yesterday’s snow and new snow from last night. Avalanche depths varied within the avalanche crown from 2” - 18”. Most avalanche seemed to occur at ridge line or on other wind loaded terrain features. Our party noted that avalanches were sensitive and broke in unusual or unpredictable manner; wrapping around terrain features, breaking above the initial trigger point, or remote triggering on adjacent terrain features. Crowns varied in width from 10’ - 150’
