Quick report
Winter ain’t over yet! It was new King snow today. 4 to 6 inches fell while we were out on our tour, and there was already 3 to 5 inches on the ground. As you can see in the picture of my portable storm board, I picked up an inch or two chest on the skin up Tye peak. The underlying snow was still pretty wet and easy to push a pole into, But supportive enough that we never skied or stomped through it. The new snow skied surprisingly well. As noted above, the new snow was pretty easy to kick off and small, wet, loose slides, but these slides behaved a little bit like slabs and tended to slide down downhill as one big plate of snow.
Avalanche
We kicked off Numerous little wet loose slides. They were isolated to pretty steep terrain, but they did get easier to kick off throughout the day.
