Quick report
Lots of wet avalanche activity observed during a long tour from Stuart to Snowbowl on Sunday. Snow totals from the previous week were around 40 cm of settled snow. I did not dig a pit or observe cracking or collapsing on any aspects. It appeared that the majority of the avalanche activity following last week's storm was related to wet slides on any aspect that received sun, and that wet slides had released on Friday afternoon, and throughout the day on Saturday. Many South through West aspects went through a pretty extensive cycle. I observed one small wet slide on the steep NE face of Mosquito peak around noon resulting from rapid warming in very steep terrain. By the afternoon, solar aspects had deteriorated to the point where I was uncomfortable in steep terrain and ski cutting the new snow was easy. Shaded terrain seemed to be stable. The East winds associated with the end of the storm produced unusual loading patterns. New soft slabs had stabilized to the point that there was no obvious instability (extensive sluffing or shooting cracks in ski cuts). My assessment was limited to ski cutting and other surface observations.
