The forecast for tomorrow (Jan 17) is pretty well bang on from what we found. Toured up to the Purple Knob bowl to take a look at access for later, a serious cornice threatens the line into the col plus the cornice at the col looks large. Alpine area has been thrashed with wind and pretty well any slope without significant forest was hammered with wind and ranged from breakable crust to bulletproof. No cracks or whumps. Skied some ok trees (thick trees being best) back to dogleg and poked into dogleg itself from treeline. Dogleg was generally horrendous with a breakable crust on all aspects essentially down to the main gully around the corner. As noted in the forecast, it did feel very eerie out there as it was hard to really get anywhere that wasn’t wind nuked. Lots of styrofoam and hollow drum beats to be found. No results on hand shears on way up but didn’t dig any pits on bigger terrain. Was a beautiful day though!
