Calzon Cutblocks

Great day in Calzon for an AST1 field day, lots of fresh powder over a pretty solid base. Only about 120-160 cm snow this early, and a LOT of trees. Day was cloudy and we didn’t get any views into treeline or alpine terrain, but we did find a very well set up right side up snowpack below treeline. About 15 cm fresh storm snow is lying over denser older snow, which sits on two melt freeze crusts down about 40 cm, and below them it’s quite well set up and solid to the ground. We didn’t see any reactions in our pit tests, everything is very a solid and bonded nicely. Fantastic start to the season, we just need more snow!
