Quick Observation

Very good (deep) conditions on shaded slopes with dry snow above about 1700m. Below 1700m on S slopes there is a firm crust about 20cm down and heavier snow, still skied well and was snowing heavily most of the day. On the way down the Whitewater road freezing level was about 1000m

Snowpack

Snowpack test was done on a 25 degree NE facing slope at about 2010m, during the compression test there were two layers that failed. The first one being 60cm down, a kind of melt freeze/facet combo, moderate-resistant planar. And another layer down about 110cm, hard-sudden planar. All in all instabilities observed while skiing were limited to sluffing in steeper terrain and small pockets failing on steeper SW facing slopes on the sun crust that developed last Friday while ski cutting.
