Quick Observation
Slogged our way up to the ridge on Mt Murray to be rewarded with an amazing line down one of the avalanche chutes. Weather was variable cloud and snow turning to heavy wet snow in the early afternoon. The area was relatively warm at about -2-3 C at the Sawmill parking lot. We dug a pit at ~2270m on the south aspect. Snowpack was 180 cm and was surprisingly stable and consolidated throughout with no visible reactive layers via compression test down to more than 1 m. We did observe some small wind slab activity near the top of the ridge, but very shallow at <10 cm. Other than some tree bombs falling throughout the day, the snow conditions were quite stable.
